AZ Alkmaar has announced the arrival of Troy Parrott. The Irish striker comes from Tottenham Hotspur for around 8 million euros and is expected to replace Vangelis Pavlidis, who left for Benfica.

What happened?

The transfer was already almost certain this week, but is now official. Parrott will sign for five seasons at the AFAS Stadion.

Why is this important for AZ Alkmaar?

A transfer fee of 8 million euros means a record for the club: Parrott, who will wear the number 9 jersey, becomes the most expensive incoming transfer in AZ's history. The Alkmaarders are currently 7th in the Eredivisie, with 52 points from 34 games and a recent form of DDDDW.

What does Parrott say himself?

“Before I signed here, I heard a lot of good stories about AZ and I spoke to Kenzo Goudmijn, among others, with whom I became friends when I played with him”, Parrott tells the club website.
