AZ Alkmaar has made a serious bid for Petar Stanic. According to Bulgarian medium Tema Sport, which is based on Serbian sources, the club from Alkmaar has made a bid of seven million euros plus bonuses for the midfielder of Ludogorets. The total transfer fee could rise to ten million euros with the inclusion of bonuses. This brings AZ close to the asking price of Ludogorets, which reportedly demands at least ten million euros for the 24-year-old Serbian. Stanic has had an excellent season with the Bulgarian top club. In the league, the attacking midfielder scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 matches. This contributed significantly to the season of Ludogorets. He also made a big impression on the European stage. In the Europa League, he scored seven goals, making him co-top scorer with Igor Jesus of Nottingham Forest. Stanic's strong performances have not gone unnoticed outside of the Netherlands. Interest has also been expressed from Spain, with Real Betis and Sevilla closely following the developments surrounding Stanic. If AZ manages to complete the deal, it would likely be a new transfer record for the club. The current record is held by Wesley Patati, who was signed from Maccabi Tel Aviv for 7.3 million euros last year.
