AZ Alkmaar aim to wash away the taste of their European defeat to Sunderland when they host Telstar on Sunday afternoon. Pascal Jansen's side welcome the Eredivisie opponents to the AFAS Stadion for matchday seven.
The home team currently sits second in the league table with sixteen points from six games. Ro-Zangelo Daal is the season's top scorer so far with four goals. The last meeting between the clubs, in March this year, ended in a 2-1 victory for AZ.
Injury blow
AZ will have to face this match without midfielder Stije Resink. The player is struggling with a knee injury and is not expected to be available until early next year. His absence is a significant blow to the squad. The lineup used against Sunderland, with Jari De Busser in goal and an attack led by Mexx Meerdink and Daal, offers a clue for the upcoming fixture.
AZ's recent form has been mixed. Three consecutive league wins were followed by a draw against Willem II and the 1-0 loss in England. Telstar travel to Alkmaar from thirteenth place and drew with Heerenveen last week. For the hosts, this is a prime opportunity to get back to winning ways.
